Acute or chronic disorders may get in your way of starting a fitness program. Clinical Pilates is designed for those who have completed their rehab program, or those in need of corrective alignment for proper muscle activation prior to transitioning to their next fitness level.  When an injury occurs, or when pain persists, the sequence of muscle firing is altered and often causes shearing in the joints.  Too often our body finds ways to avoid certain movements or compensates by overusing other structures.   As a result, we teach our brain to learn a new movement pattern that may not be mechanically efficient and often causes dysfunction to other areas in our body and/or early fatigue.  Clinical Pilates offers corrective alignment by way of using your own muscle contraction to realign the body and regain your movement with ease.  Activating the proper muscles to maintain your alignment is just as important to prevent the body from returning to its dysfunction.  A home exercise program is provided because it really takes repetition of proper movements to reteach the brain how to move our body properly until it becomes an automatic  movement pattern once again.

Fitness Pilates is a training option to gain muscle tone, strength, flexibility, balance and coordination by applying the fundamental principles and techniques of Pilates exercises.  With its focus on core muscles,  Pilates improves your overall posture allowing efficient muscle movements when participating in sports activities or doing everyday tasks.   Pilates heightens awareness where muscles need to activate, or when muscles need to be inhibited and feel more relaxed.  JABAFIT  features reformers with towers, chairs and barrels.

 If you have been attending regular Pilates classes for some time, you will no doubt be familiar with the fundamental principles and will have mastered the basic techniques. You will also, by now, be feeling the many benefits of this exercise regime.  JABAFIT Pilates classes are suitable for everyone regardless of age, sex and level of fitness and in all walks of life.  Each exercise can be done at different levels of intensity with additional modifications to cater for anyone with specific muscular or joint limitations. Participants are encouraged to work at their own individual levels, building up strength, endurance and flexibility gradually at their own pace.It is always advisable to check with your physician before undergoing any exercise program.

One on one Pilates training will include a postural and dynamic assessment during initial visit.  This will allow us to learn your movement patterns to customize the program for your needs and progress you to your next fitness level.  Pilates flows through a series of movements that are more dynamic, systematic and anatomically-based incorporating resistance equipment such as the Reformer, Cadillac, Stability Chair, and Barrels. The goal with STOTT PILATES exercise is to strengthen the postural muscles while achieving optimal functional fitness. You can choose to train with a friend and split the cost of a private session.

Essential Pilates Class


SP_Matwork-09The Essential Pilates Class is the time to try out the Pilates Reformer machine and mat repertoire while practicing the basic principles of Pilates. This small class is a good introduction to those who had never had a taste of Pilates. New students who need extra practice time getting oriented to the equipment and terminology used in classes are also welcome.  The focus of the class is applying the basic principles of breathing, spinal alignment, shoulder placement, and deep abdominal connections to promote muscle balance and challenge dynamic stability.  Once the movements have been mastered, students can take on more demanding exercises with ease and fluidity.  It is recommended to take a private session prior to taking this class.



Pilates Apparatus Class

The Duet Apparatus Class consist of 2 students with one instructor. Once the basic principles of Pilates movements have been mastered, students can take on more demanding exercises with ease, coordination and fluidity. The focus of Apparatus class is using  principles of breathing, spinal alignment, shoulder placement and deep abdominal connections while challenging the essential skills learned using the Reformer equipment, Chair, Cadillac as well as other props to promote proper alignment or challenge dynamic stability. It is recommended to take private sessions prior to taking this class.

 Group Mat Pilates (10 – 12 clients per class)



Matwork class provides the foundation of Pilates repertoire to improve core strength and balance the muscles around the joints, improving the way the body functions, looks and feels. Pilates Matwork class will introduce you to the basic principles of Pilates to discover how proper breathing, spinal alignment, shoulder and neck placement can create efficient movements that can reduce unnecessary stress and tension to your body. The focus is being aware of the deep muscular connections and applying the Pilates principles to essential mat exercises to promote proper alignment or challenge dynamic stability.  The class will often include the use of the Flex-Band, Stability Ball, Foam Rollers, Pilates Rings, and Toning Balls to add intensity or allow for a better spinal and peripheral alignment.



Mat Class is being offered as a free community class at First Baptist Church, Manchester, TN. Come join us on Fridays at 9:30 am.

 All bodies are created different and should be treated different.  The above packages are designed to provide you with a comprehensive, high quality Pilates program that will meet your needs and for your safety.

Cancellation Policy

A 24-hour advance notice is required to change or cancel an appointment without charge.   Appointments may be cancelled by phone, email or in person.  Less than 24 hours  notice will result to losing 50% of paid service, and less than 12 hours will result to losing 100% of paid service.

JABAFIT will make every attempt to cancel with at least 24-hour notice in the event that an instructor must cancel the class.

Both parties in a scheduled duet private session are responsible for canceling the appointment with 24-hour notice.  In the event that just one of the participants in a duet private session is unable to attend, the other student may upgrade to a private session for an additional $20.00.
